CELL PHONE POLICY
Students will be allowed to use their cell phones in classrooms with teacher permission for instructional purposes only and at after school events with sponsor permission.
Cell phones should not be visible in the classroom setting if teacher has not given permission to use.
Cell phones should not be used during assemblies/programs/guest speakers.
What is instructional use of cell phones?
Any instructional activity that incorporates the many uses of today’s cell phones during a lesson. Ex. Calculators, internet research, question-response activities.
What are some examples of inappropriate use of cell phone and punishable by the offenses listed below?
Student asks to go to restroom and uses their cell phone in or along the way.
Use of cell phones during P.E. class, library or free time.
Student pulls out cell phone to check time of day.
Texting, checking Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
** 1st Offense- 1 day In-School Suspension(ISS)- phone will be taken and
returned to parents at end of day.
**2nd Offense- 2 days ISS- Phone will be kept in office for 1 week after which
parent can pick up.
**3rd Offense- 1 day out of school suspension. Phone will be kept in office for 1
week after which parent can pick up.
**4th Offense- Principals discretion
